Create Events

The events must be created for each meet.  You can initially create these manually or you can import in .hyv files as templates.  There is a sample.hyv file supplied with the software as an example.  Additionally, many of these can be found on the internet by doing a Google search for "hyv swimming".

Import

This can be used to create an events table that is empty or to replace an existing table.  You will be prompted with a common dialog to select a HYV file.  These can be identified by the file extension of .hyv and contain a set of events.

Times

This will open a dialog were you can import in LowTime and HighTime from the times table.  Use this to help you setup the qualification times using USA swimming time standards

Copy

This dialog will allow you to copy events from previous meets.

Setup

This will allow for setup of the page for the print button.

Print

This will allow printing of the events.

Close

Close the events dialog.

Filters

The filters allows you to limit the events viewed when reviewing the events.  By selecting a filter, on the records that match the filter will be displayed.

Fields

The events are the basic descriptions for the swim events held during the meet.  These record the basic description of the events that are part of a swim meet.  The fields for each event consist of:

Required Numeric value start from 1 to nnnn.

Session

Required Finals or Preliminaries.

EventType

Required Individual or Relays.

StrokeKey

Required User-defined by the Strokes table.  Normally, contains the standard swim strokes, such as, Free, Breaststroke, Backstroke, Individual Medley, etc.

Sex

Required Male, Female or Combined (both sexes).

MinAge

Required Minimum age of swimmer qualified for this event.

MaxAge

Required Maximum age of swimmer qualified for this event.

Distance

Required User-defined by the Distance table.  Normally, contains 25, 50, 100, etc.

AgeGroup

Required User-defined by the AgeGroup table.

LowTime

Required Best times for the swimmer less than or equal to this value are not eligible for the event.

HighTime

Required Best times for the swimmer equal or greater than this value are not eligible for the event.

EntryFee

Optional
(not used)
Currency entry fee.

The user-defined tables noted above can be found from the Edit > Meet Characteristics... menus.

The unique combination of values for the fields Session, EventType, StrokeKey, Sex & Distance can only occur once in the this table.  This combination describes a unique event during the meet and cannot be duplicated.  If WinSwim senses a duplication, an error will be displayed with you attempt to exit this form.
