Steps of a Meet

The steps for a meet are in the following order:

  1. Edit
  2. Select...
  3. Create results
  4. Seed Heats (optional)
  5. Print Deck Cards
  6. Enter Results
  7. Print ribbon labels
  8. Update Best Times

Edit the Meet

First, you need to create a meet.  Use the "File | Meet | Edit" or press the "Meet" button to setup and entry for each meet.  You can do all the meets for the entire season at one time or just the one you need.   This entry contains information, such as, the meet name, number of lanes, measure of the pool (Yards or Meters) and a Yes/No flag that tell WinSwim if a meet is completed.

Note: Do not "create the results" until just before each meet as the event numbers can change for swimmers as they get better and may change ranks.

TimesUpdated Flag This flag tells whether or not the meet results have been entered and applied to the best times tables.  If it is set to "Yes" then you have applied the resulting times and places to the best times for the membership roster.  If the best times are rebuilt, this meet will be included in the rebuild process.  Initially, this flag is set to "No".
Type Optional type code describing the type of meet.
Altitude Optional altitude used to activate a subtraction of # of seconds if the meet is held at high altitude.
Address, City, State, Cntry, Postal Code Optional data on location of the meet.
Start Date & End Date

The date the meet starts and is completed. The start date is used for determining the order for recreating best times.

Lanes The number of lanes within the pool.  This is used for lane seeding.
Measure Either the pool length is in YARDS or METERS.  Used to determine if the times captured are in metered or yard time.

Select a Meet

Next, use the "File | Meet | Select..." to make it the active meet.  This MUST be done prior to any of the additional steps can be performed.  You will see the meet name displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Create Results

After selecting the meet you are ready to create the results.  This is a list created directly from the best times and used for seeding, printing deck cards, entering results and printing ribbon labels.

At the time you create the results you have the option to merge in other teams that use WinSwim by checking the box "Import guest teams into best times before creating results?".  See Championship for more information.

Note: The results should always match the list contained in best times at time created.
